I know! I'm slightly obsessed with making these refrigerator magnets using old CDs.. This is the third one and I made it for my Mom. But in my defense they are sooooo much fun to make and everyone who sees them wants me to make one and I really can't say no now can I ?
I am entering this little gem in the Country View Crafts May challenge.
I did make some cards also. These are a little more difficult for me. I really have no idea what I'm doing here. I do think they are getting better as I go along. I made some generic birthday cards and some "Thinking of you" cards to send for our church group.

12 Months in View -Gardening by the Seasons
It's way past time to post my May photos of the yard. I managed to finally do the weeding so the yard doesn't make this look like an abandoned house.
A couple of years ago we planted a dogwood tree in memory of my Mother-in-law who passed away. This year it finally bloomed. It is so pretty.
Thanks for coming by.

New Use for Old CD
Awhile back on 12 Months in View in the Going Green Challenge, we made refrigerator magnets from old CDs. I sent a photo of the one I made to my sister who asked me to make one for her. I finished it tonight and I love it. I think these are so fun to make and such a great gift.
I am going to enter this into the Feminine and Fancy Challenge at Try it on Tuesday.
I am also going to enter this into the Crafts 4 Eternity Recipe 123. The flowers are made from lace ribbon, all of the paper elements are made from scraps, and there is some bling used as the stamens of the flowers as well as the dimensional dots on the bird paper.

Tag Day
This evening I spent about 2 hours cleaning up the room where I have dumped art supplies for the past few months. They were everywhere. On the bed, on the floor, in the two rolling carts I specifically bought for supplies. It was time to take stock and clean up. I finally got it cleaned up and moved to the back room where my husband is going to make me some sort of shelving.
So now that it was all cleaned up it was time to dig in and create. I pulled out some paper, a tag, a few buttons, some ribbon and a few extra goodies. I never start knowing exactly what I am going to create. I have a canvas bag that I put the things that I might want to use into and then I create on a wooden Walmart TV tray with my little bag of supplies in front of the TV with hubby. Yes, I still have to make several trips to get things I didn't realize I would need but it works for me.
Here is a tag that I created with the bits and pieces I put into my little canvas bag.
I also started working on a refrigerator magnet made from an old unwanted CD for my little sister. It is still a work in progress but it was started after I completed the tag. More on this later.
Thanks for stopping in.

The colors match the ones that Anything But a Card has challenged us to use in Color Challenge 19 so I think I will enter it into this challenge.

New ATC
I worked on another ATC this evening. I was in a red kind of mood.
I colored the background of the card with distress ink in Brickred and added some Blacksoot around the edges and upper corner. The flower and leaves were cut with my Cuttlebug as was the little mini tag with the word Live on it. I added some shiny accents to the flower and tied some metal tags on with some cord. I am really enjoying making these little masterpieces. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did making it.
I will be entering this little beauty in the ATC challenge at Anything But a Card.
Thanks for stopping by.

Featured Artist
I am so excited. I just received an email from Anything But a Card that I am a featured artist for the April Showers Challenge #17. I've never been featured before and I'm just ecstatic. You would think I had just won the lottery or something. I feel validated and that my art is "good enough" after all these years. Woooohoooo!!!
This is the tag that did it....

Card Making
I have never made a greeting card before so with a lot of trepidation, I tried one this evening.
I used a sketch that was provided by a papercrafters group as my guide.

So using up some of my scraps and playing with what I could find in my stash of stuff, this is what I came up with.

Mini Album
We are getting ready to go to the beach in the next few weeks and I wanted to make a photo album to take with us to hold all of our bits and pieces we pick up as well as any photos we take along the way. I so enjoyed making the little matchbook album made with two small paper bags in the style of Steff Miller's tutorial that I found on Ustream here:

You open it up and here is the first page....
Then here are the photo mats and journaling pages that fit inside...

ATC. Fun
I did some blog hopping today and found out about ATCs, Inchies and Twinchies. And now that I have found them I must conquer them. I decided the best way to start was to work large and move to small so I made two ATCs.
These were so much fun to make. They are like little masterpieces. So fun. Anyway here are my two newest examples featuring fish.

My Father The Artist
Today I want to talk about my father. He is my artistic mentor and my hero. But then how many daughters don't think their dad is the best in the world?
This is my Dad. He is an engineer by trade and an artist by heart. He lives in a small town in West Virginia called Petersburg where he leads a small group of artists who meet in his studio. They seem to have a lot of fun and produce some wonderful pieces.
Dad works mostly in pastels now days but has worked in oils, watercolor as well as other mediums.
He recently began posting some of his work on Fine Art America, a website where artists can upload images of their artwork and sell prints. I hope you will have a look at some of his work. He is an amazing artist. And just to whet your appetite here are a couple of examples.
Glad you stopped by.
