Summer of Color - Week 6

I am so very sad that we are at the end of the Summer of Color challenge.  This has been such a fun challenge to do.  Not super happy about the combination for this week though which is Sage and Sepia.  I pondered quite a while about what to do for this one.  And in the end I'm still not sure I got it right.  But I made another ATC with what I hope are the right colors.

Passport to Art - Day 10

Today's subject is Caleb.

 The Journaling technique was to use Rock Candy crackle paint or Range crackle paint.  I haven't had too much success previously when I tried to use my Rock Candy crackle paint.  Might have something to do with the fact that I can't set it aside and just let it dry.  But today, I think the tag I used it on looks just right.

Technique Challenge

Drippage

Drip paint down your page or use a splatter technique to add extra paint.  

The first time I tried this technique I just couldn't get good drips going.  But with a little help from Bernice last time I tried again and got maximum drippage this time.  I also tried to make an origami folded coat which is supposed to be Joseph's coat of many colors.

I love the way you can see the folded pages behind each other.

Passport to Art - Day 8

Day 8 revolves around Abram and his journey directed by God with the promise that through Abram He would make a great nation.

12 The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.

² “I will make you into a great nation,
    and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
    and you will be a blessing.^[a]
3 I will bless those who bless you,
    and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
    will be blessed through you.”^[b]

⁴ So Abram went, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Harran. ⁵ He took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had accumulated and the people they had acquired in Harran, and they set out for the land of Canaan, and they arrived there.

⁶ Abram traveled through the land as far as the site of the great tree of Moreh at Shechem. At that time the Canaanites were in the land. ⁷ The Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your offspring^[c] I will give this land.” So he built an altar there to the Lord, who had appeared to him.
⁸ From there he went on toward the hills east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to the Lord and called on the name of the Lord.

Our Art Challenge was to use watercolor with the salt technique.  I'm not sure you can tell by the photo how the salt makes the watercolor recede from where it touches the page.  Makes pretty speckles.

Week 5 Summer of Color

Week five at Color of Summer gives us the color combo of apple red and yellow.  I immediately thought of oriental colors.  I decided to use a bright background and build my ATC from there.

The colors made me think Oriental.  Red and black lacquer and gold.  All colors that make me think of the Orient.
